Mongolia hosts 10 тыс. чел. international students — a modest but growing number, concentrated mainly in Ulaanbaatar. Most come from neighbouring Asian countries: China, South Korea, and Japan, attracted by relatively low living costs and the unique opportunity to study Mongolian language and culture. However, compared to global education hubs that welcome hundreds of thousands of students, Mongolian universities remain on the periphery of international academic exchange. Expanding English-taught programmes and scholarship schemes could change this picture.
