Throughout its history, Mexico has had 1 шт. capital — the 3rd figure among 197 countries. The sole capital since the state's founding in 1821 remains Mexico City, built on the ruins of Aztec Tenochtitlan. Most countries (about 200) also have one capital, and only a few — Italy (Rome, Milan, Florence) and Brazil (Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília) — have changed it three times. The stability of the capital reflects political continuity: despite wars and revolutions, Mexico City has remained the center of power for two centuries.
