In 2026, only 1.0 % населения of China's population had access to satellite internet. The country's vast territory, from densely populated eastern megacities to the highlands of Tibet and the deserts of Xinjiang, makes laying fiber optics economically challenging. However, China is actively developing national low-orbit satellite constellations, such as the "Guowang" project, to radically change this situation in the coming years and connect remote regions. For now, the country ranks 40th in the world for this indicator.
